Within the walls of The Hummingbird Residential Home, 91 children bear the burden of a history marred by profound distress and hardship. Most of the children who call Hummingbird their home are orphaned or have single mothers. Many come to us holding trauma of various kinds and severely undernourished. At Hummingbird, we consciously endeavor to provide these children with a space where they feel safe and secure, where they can express their emotions and heal. They relish 3 wholesome meals a day that is mindfully prepared to compensate for years of hardship and poor health. The adults living on campus and the children in the hostel enable the unique communal culture of the campus which is full of love and joy. Everyone is responsible for the upkeep of the campus and works together as one family.
Providing a safe home and nourishing meals to a child for one month costs INR 6500. This ensures warm meals, healthcare, personal care, books and stationary, as well as remuneration to the committed adults who care for them.
