Last December, with amazing support from people all across the country, we, the students of Hummingbird School in Majuli brought to life the very first Children’s Literary Festival, Ammo. Ammo became the site a joyful space to celebrate the incredible talent of young storytellers, artists and dreamers from Northeast India!
The response for Ammo last year was overwhelming!
Over 1500 children from across Majuli and beyond participated in Ammo Children's Literary Festival, proving that the desire for literature and creativity is immense. We witnssed first-hand that tiny seeds of imagination sprout as children discovered new worlds with illustrators and artists, recited self-composed poems, and found their voices through storytelling.
"Ammo," in the Mising language, means "seed." Our inaugural festival was a massive step in planting those seeds of creativity in the hearts of Majuli's children.
Now, we're ready for "Ammo 2.0," and the stakes are higher. We, the Grade 9 students of the Hummingbird School as the organisers will be aiming for a bigger, bolder festival that reaches even more young dreamers who lack access to literary opportunities otherwise.
"Ammo 2.0" will again be a three-day festival (December 19th-21st December 2025) featuring:
Workshops: Hands-on sessions with acclaimed storytellers, writers, to refine literary skills
Inter-School Collaborations: Bringing together young minds from diverse backgrounds for shared creative projects.
A Book Fair: Featuring diverse books, especially those highlighting Northeast Indian voices.
Interactive Art and Literature Hubs: Blending visual arts, performance, and poetry to encourage multi-modal expression.
The festival will once again take place on our beautiful campus at The Hummingbird School in Majuli District, Assam.
To ensure the second edition of "Ammo" is even more impactful and accessible, we need to raise INR 5,00,000. This increased goal will allow us to:
Every contribution helps us reach one more child. Your contribution also ensures that the literary spark ignited by the first festival grows into a steady flame.
Join the Movement: Help us transform "Ammo 2.0" from a plan into a reality. Invest in the future storytellers and artists of Majuli and beyond make this year's Ammo Festival a resounding success!
